Update from the 2015 NCPDP Annual Conference

03 June 2015

This year’s NCPDP Annual Conference featured 14 educational track sessions and an exhibit hall at the beautiful Westin Kierland in Scottsdale, AZ. As always, pharmacy is an evolving industry with no shortage of new technologies to explore and regulations to learn about.

PDMI representatives at the conference feel that this year’s symposium confirmed the amount of exciting new opportunities in the industry. Our team noted that Patient Outcomes was the hot topic of 2015 and for the future. Patient Outcomes includes proper medication usage, storage and adherence, and it continues to grow as a focus in the industry. In meeting with our Pharmacy Network partners to continue to build and strengthen PDMI’s partnership, our network pharmacists agreed that they can play an important role in this area.

E-prescribing was also top of mind as presenters and attendees discussed Electronic Prior Authorizations and state mandates in the areas of both private payer and Medicare.

For 2016, NCPDP’s Annual Technology Business Conference will return to the Westin Kierland Resort. NCPDP is a not-for-profit, ANSI-accredited, Standards Development Organization with 1,600 members representing virtually every sector of the pharmacy services industry.
